Dreams

Lights fade all around me as my eyes begin to close,
As I begin to fall into a slight slumber all my worries come to an end and a world of anticipation unfolds in front of me,
Images falling into place making some sort of sense begin to become clear as my breathing starts to get heavier.

Images so beautiful, so vivid yet so far away.
I reach out to touch them, but as I do they seem to get further and further away,
That little bit more out of reach.
Colours forming all around me as my dreams start to feel as if a reality,
Illuminating the sky.

Colours form images, more beautiful then the next
Each asking a different question as if they were to be answered.
Yet alas no answers to be found there.
I hear whispers in the corner but see no faces.

Words become clearer as all other noises cease.
Words so true, tears begin to form in the corners of my eyes.
As the words echo their meaning the tears begin their journey.
Moving slowly but precisely down the side of my soft face, I feel an emotion not known before.

A pain so intense a gunshot wound would feel like a pinprick in comparison.
My world once a haven now pieces of shattered glass, as I try to find clarity and sustenance in the images I know see.
Distorted images as I look through tear stained eyes.

The voices once so clear now a murmur in the background of life.
Distant noises make their appearances again as the fantasy world starts to fade away,
All the images but a distant memory of something I once knew and loved.
